Ocean Blue Paradise Makeup Look

Hello everyone, this week I am back with my first makeup look on this blog, and I am super excited to share it with you. Please bear in mind that I am, by no means, a makeup artist / expert, this is just me playing with colors and products. My inspiration for this look came on a rainy day (random and quite ironic, right?), but I really like the blues and dark green that I used on my eyes, and it is a very playful, colorful and summer appropriate look.

Quick tip: if my skin feels really dry and, of course, if I have enough time, I will moisturize my face 20-30 minutes before starting my makeup. Thus, everything will glide on much smoother on my face. Now going back to this makeup look: I started by priming my face with Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer, and left it to set for 3 minutes before carrying on to the rest of my face. For my foundation, I used the Astor Mattitude High Definition in 003 Nude Beige. When I bought this foundation back in March, my brain had a huge mishap and thought that it would be great to buy a foundation that is quite a few shades darker than my actual skin color. However, I got lucky because this foundation does not have a lot of coverage; I feel that it evens out my complexion, offering a very natural, matte finish and after applying a light powder, it was not as obvious. Now, given that I started developing a tan, the shade is perfect for my skin, and I actually started to love it for the way it makes my face look. Another plus during the summer is that it also has SPF 22, so it protects my skin from getting red and burnt in the sun. I apply it with a Douglas foundation brush, but you can also use your clean fingers; it will sit on as smooth either way.

After I am done with foundation, I move on to concealer. I use two types of concealers: one from Yves Rocher in the shade 100 Tres Clair, which I use to conceal my blemishes and redness (I have a lot, especially on my nose area), and for my under eye circles, I use the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in the shade 010 Ivory. I then set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte in 003 Peach Glow, using an Ebellin Powder Brush.

For my eyebrows, I used Yves Rocher’s eyebrow pencil in a light brown shade. My eyebrows are quite thick, so I mostly just fill them in. Next, I put the champagne color that you see in picture 1 all over my lid. This quad is from Avon, True Colour in the shade Pink Sands. Next, using the light blue in 2 (the duo which is from Oriflame Visions Soul Mates Eye Shadow in Adam&Eve) I put it in my crease and above it, continuously blending with a fluffy blending brush (mine is from Oriflame) until I like the way it looks. Next, I packed some of the dark green you see in the same duo, putting it in the outer corner of my eye and again a quarter into my crease, and started to blend it all again. To accentuate the look, I used the Oriflame Visions in Mystic (a single eye shadows which is a dark blue, I unfortunately didn’t take a picture) and put it in my crease, to mimic the effect of a cut crease. Using a white eyeshadow, I highlighted my inner corner (mine is from Maybelline Expert Wear Mono in Snow White), and then with my Maybelline Master Precise liquid eyeliner, I drew a fine line with a slight flick at the end. Using a black eye pencil, I lined my waterline for a more dramatic effect. Since I was going for a more smokey look, I went back to the dark blue and blended it into my eye lashes. The last step for the eyes was mascara – I used the Maybelline One by One Volum’ Express. I absolutely love it (Maybelline mascaras in general – they make your eyelashes really long and full).

Now that the eyes are done, I go back to the rest of my face and finish up. Using another Ebellin Powder Brush, I bronze up (Aura Sunkiss Bronzer is what I put on). As for blush, I love the pinky – peachy color that the Yves Rocher blush offers (Natural Blush – 21 Teint Medium Abricote). As a highlight for my face, I go back to the same shade I used on my eyelids (the champagne one from Avon) and I put it on the apples of my cheeks. For my lips, I line them with Avon Glimmerstick for Lips in Ginger, and i fill everything in with my favorite lipstick at the moment, Farmasi True Color Lipstick in 05, a beautiful peachy pink nude shade.

So here is the completed makeup look! What do you think? What colors do you like experimenting with? I had a lot of fun playing with the blues and dark green, and I really hope that you’ve enjoyed this blog post and that you found it somewhat helpful. I will leave the before & after photo in the gallery so you can see the difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, and I will write again really soon!

Remember to keep smiling,

Nico
